Would you like to be in a place of total safety where past traumas can surface for release so that you are no longer held back by them? Would you like to explore techniques and practices that will not only enhance your musical performance, but make you a healthier, stronger person? Would you appreciate being in the company of other musicians who are honest in their struggles to bring forth their art and want to move to a higher level of performing and being?

The Musician's Journey™ is a workshop where you can find all of these things. The work in this series allows you perceive your deepest essence and learn to bring it into your music so that your performing is authentic and free, and so that it moves people.

The Musician's Journey is the journey to the authentic self, expressed creatively.

Using the format I have developed over the past 21 years of facilitating groups, each session will provide a space where the participants can go within in total safety. It will be a powerful place to share (or not share, if you prefer) and listen, to connect with inner wisdom, and to free vital energy, as well as to learn a method for supporting others if you happen to be in the teaching or healing arts.

The workshop is a series of four sessions, each meeting on the third Saturday of the month. It begins with What Is Healing?, which is a prerequisite for all other sessions in the series. Once you have taken the Introduction, you can attend any or all other individual sessions that are offered in this workshop or in future Musician's Journey workshops. Each session will offer something different, so that at the end of the series you will have an arsenal of material to work with in continuing your inner work and making it a part of your life. You might want to try all of the sessions the first time around, and in subsequent series, you may choose to attend only those which suit you the best. Each session will build on the last, as you go deeper within and discover new material.

What Is Healing? June 18, 2011. The introduction includes an explanation about what healing truly is (and is not), and how PRAKASHA® works. It will let you know how you can create the experience of healing for yourself or someone else. It will give you an understanding of exactly how our mind and unconscious are linked with the healing process. It explains the energy dynamics of communication and, together with the other sessions of The Musician's Journey, will greatly increase your awareness and effectiveness in this area. It is particularly useful for those who work in service to others, such as teachers, healers and therapists. As a performer, it will give you an understanding of what happens when you share your energy with the audience using this context – and when you don't. It will include an experience of a technique used in the PRAKASHA journey. You will leave feeling relaxed and centered, and take with you tools that can be brought into your life and your performing.
PRAKASHA® journey. July 16, 2011. PRAKASHA is a journey within which gives you access to the real source of healing within you, allowing you to find answers, resolve obstacles and transcend emotional and psychic wounds quickly. It is also the context which allows that journey to occur, a context which can be brought into other areas of your life to facilitate self-healing and to help you contribute to others more effectively. It easily facilitates self-directed transformation on many levels in a magical, musical atmosphere of exquisite safety. This work is highly pertinent to our times, and extremely important to our well-being, health and attainment of goals. Although the process seems effortless, the healing, insight and/or change that occurs is lasting and deep.
Sound/Movement/Meditation. August 20, 1011. Sound and movement encourage the energy to move through the body and help release stuck places both physically and energetically. You will experience a number of techniques that are helpful to musicians and singers in relaxing and freeing the energy for performing. Once our energy is moving fluidly, we will have a guided meditation, followed by a half-hour silent meditation during which you may use your usual meditation technique. If you have never meditated before, this will be an ideal time to learn and add this practice to your preparation for performance readiness. If you are a meditator who is looking for some alternative meditation techniques, these will be provided for those who request them. If you are an experienced meditator, you might find the meditation experience here is deeper than what you are used to.
A final PRAKASHA® journey. September 17, 2011. This will be the conclusion of the series. Because each month has built on the previous one, and we now have a rapport, are comfortable and familiar with the format of the workshop, and have experienced a significant release since the beginning of the series, this will be an opportunity to complete the work you began four months ago and look to how this will become a part of your creative life. (Although you can attend any of the sessions individually once you have completed the Introduction, I recommend that you do not take only the final PRAKASHA session, as there would be too long a gap from the time of the Introduction. If you are new to this work and only want to do only one PRAKASHA journey, please take the first one that immediately follows the Introduction.)

Fee. Because I want all musicians to be able to participate in this workshop, I am offering the sessions at half my normal rate. Each session is $30, and if you choose to pay for all of the sessions at the beginning of the Introduction, you can do all 4 sessions for $100.

How/when/where. The Introduction to Healing, the prequisite for all future sessions, will be held on June 18, 2011, from 3:30-5:30 pm. Each session of the workshop meets on the third Saturday of the month on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Each group will be limited to eight people in order that everyone can have personal attention, so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come.
