EGMP Job Available: Dancer

Job Available: Dancer/Choreographer

(posted December 2016)

EGMP is looking for a Dancer/Choreographer for the 2016-17 season.  We need a dancer to perform on some contemporary Spanish art songs.  The dance could be improvisatory or choreographed, as the dancer wishes.  This will be a compensated position, as are all of the roles in EGMP.

Logistics.  The concert will be at Studios 353 on W 48th St (between 8th/9th Aves) on Wed, Feb 22, 2017, 8:00 pm; the dress rehearsal is on Mon, Feb 20, 7:00 pm, and prior to that there will be one short rehearsal with just the dancer, the singer and the pianist, time TBD.  The floor of the concert hall is wood, and the area the dancer will be using is 40’ wide by about 10′ (space is adaptable).

Requirements.  Solid dance experience, along with either choreographic or improvisatory experience, and a referral.  You have an agreeable nature, are reliable, and are quick to respond to email communication (essential in a face-paced production schedule).  If you happen to be open to both classical and modern techniques, perhaps along with a little musical theater (we often need help choreographing our Broadway numbers), that would be a plus, but not a requirement for this particular concert.

Compensation. The fee is $150 for the concert, the dress rehearsal (you need only stay for half) and one other short rehearsal of just the dancer, singer and pianist. The Dancer’s bio will be placed on the company roster web page, which is used for promotion on social media and online publications, so free publicity will be had (see EGMP Personnel). If the partnership works out well, you might be asked to stay on board with the company for future concerts.  In addition, the people involved in this company are all warm, friendly, fun and talented people, and you will get to see a great concert! You might really like being a part of this innovative and warm company.
